Event Report: Tujuane Mixer - Womens Image and Etiquette Seminar
Date Published: Saturday October 31, 2009
In May when we hosted a Men's Only Image and Etiquette seminar, there was uproar. Women were outraged, they wanted to know; what about us? Why can't we also attend? Why only MEN? And eventually we had to allow a select few to attend the men's only event under the pretext of "dressing our men" but we suspect it was a spy mission.
Tujuane Mixer: Women's Image and Etiquette Seminar
Held: October 29, 2009
At the Nairobi Club, Upper Hill
We however promised the WOMEN one such occasion of their own - how could we not. So this October we did just that, Tujuane Network together with Public Image Africa sort the sage intervention of PR expert and Motivational speaker turned Image consultant Nthenya Masyuko of The Orange Company to hold a session with Tujuane members of the fairer persuasion.
Held on 29th October 2009, at the Nairobi Club in Upper Hill, this event was designed to help our members "learn more about the art of dressing and the essential basics designed to get you projecting a dynamic and accurate professional and personal image." But anyone who attended the event can tell you that it was much more than that, Inspiring, Motivating and Uplifting are just a few of the words that come to mind.
Though an evening event doesn't allow for much time to address all the issues that encompass what it is Image and Etiquette entails, a few essentials were passed along including how crucial first impressions are, how to pay close attention to various aspects of our lives including the colors that appeal to us and thus define us; dressing for our body shapes; hair; accessories, nylons (read: lingerie), deportment and speech. This was followed by a no-holds-barred discussion amongst the women about what it is in our world that defines us.
It was a great evening and Tujuane is grateful to all who participated as well us the speaker Nthenya Masyuko, Derek Bbanga for his male perspective and Wanjiku wa Kamau who ran the introductions.
